Medico Locker — IoT-Enabled RFID Smart Locker System for Hospitals
Medico Locker — IoT-Enabled RFID Smart Locker System for Hospitals
Stop Losing High-Value Medical Devices
Medico Locker is an intelligent IoT-enabled RFID tracking system that assigns personal accountability to every device checkout, eliminates unintentional hoarding, and sends real-time alerts the moment a device leaves its compartment. Designed for Indian hospitals that demand security, efficiency and complete audit trail for high-value clinical equipment.
The Problem Medico Locker Solves
In most hospital departments, high-value devices — laryngoscopes, scopes, infusion pumps, diagnostic handles — are stored on open shelves or in unlocked trolleys. The result:
- Devices left in random locations or taken home by staff
- Anonymous loss — no one knows who took it last
- Delayed discovery, often weeks later during manual counts
- “I thought you put it away” confusion between shifts
The Medico Locker Solution
- PIN-based checkout — every removal is a deliberate, logged act
- Personal accountability — every device linked to a named user
- Real-time alerts — managers know instantly when a device is checked out or not returned
- Dedicated “home” compartment — every device has an assigned cell, no more confusion
How It Works
- Authenticate: Staff enters Employee ID + PIN or taps RFID badge on the touchscreen
- Select Device: Choose the required device from the displayed available inventory
- Compartment Opens: Dedicated cell releases. Removal is logged with user identity and timestamp
- Real-Time Alert: Manager receives instant SMS, email or push notification of the checkout
- Return & Track: Device returned to assigned compartment. RFID confirms return. If not returned on time, follow-up alert is triggered automatically
The Technology — Four Integrated Pillars
- RFID Tracking: UHF RFID antennas (840–960 MHz, ISO 18000-6C) continuously monitor every tagged item. Know exactly what’s in and out at all times
- IoT & Cloud: Real-time sync to the cloud. Manage multiple lockers across floors or campuses from one central dashboard
- Access Control: Employee ID + PIN or RFID badge. Role-based permissions for CRNAs, nurses and managers
- Smart Alerts: Instant SMS, email or push notifications if a device is not returned on time
Key Features
- 31–59 Compartments: Modular design with dedicated cells for high-value items. Configurable sizes for scopes, handles and pumps
- PIN + RFID Access: Multi-factor authentication. Every transaction tied to an individual user for full traceability
- Audit Trail: Complete log of every check-in and check-out. Exportable reports for NABH compliance
- API Integration: Connects with EHR, HIS and ERP systems via RESTful APIs
- Built-in Charging: Optional USB-C charging ports inside compartments to keep devices powered and ready
- Tamper & UV Options: Tamper detection sensors. Optional UV-C sterilisation for infection control
