Why the strongest ergonomic strategy is usually a range of acceptable postures rather than one perfect pose.

Ergonomic advice is often reduced to a single diagram of the correct posture. Real work is more dynamic. The body benefits from changing load, moving the feet, shifting the pelvis, standing, rolling closer and occasionally resetting the entire posture.

A good posture can still become tiring

Muscles that hold the body still must continue working even when alignment is technically good. Time therefore matters as much as geometry.

Dynamic seating is not exercise equipment

A movable or saddle seat may encourage small postural adjustments, but it should not be marketed as a substitute for exercise or as a guaranteed core-strengthening device. Its realistic benefit is giving the user more ways to change position during work.

Design the environment for variation

An adjustable stool, sit-stand surface, mobile cart, footring and well-positioned storage can create several comfortable working positions instead of one compulsory posture.

Use symptoms as information, not a target

Frequent numbness, sharp pain or persistent symptoms should prompt a setup review and, when appropriate, clinical assessment. The purpose of ergonomic design is to reduce avoidable exposure, not to teach users to tolerate pain.
