Charging Carts for Hospital Tablets & iPads
Charging Carts for Hospital Tablets & iPads
Shared tablets and iPads are now standard equipment across Indian hospitals — used for patient registration, nursing rounds, ward documentation, telemedicine consultations, and diagnostic workflows. Managing a shared tablet fleet without the right charging infrastructure leads to devices running flat mid-shift, cables left across clinical floors, and hardware going missing between wards.
Rife Medical's hospital tablet charging carts solve all three problems: secure storage, organised simultaneous charging, and controlled access — in a single mobile unit that moves with your team.

Common Hospital Tablet Use Cases
- Patient registration & OPD: Tablets shared between reception staff across multiple shifts. Devices must be fully charged at shift start and returned to a secure point at shift end.
- Nursing rounds: Ward nurses carry tablets for bedside documentation, medication administration records, and vitals entry. Tablets return to the charging cart between rounds.
- Telemedicine consultations: Tablets used for video consultations in outpatient or rural health settings. Devices must be charged, clean, and ready for each appointment.
- Diagnostic imaging support: Tablets used to display imaging results or patient records at the point of care. Shared between radiologists and technicians across shifts.
- Training & medical education: Medical colleges and nursing schools with shared iPad or Android tablet pools for classroom and simulation lab use.
What to Look for in a Hospital Tablet Charging Cart
Capacity matched to your fleet: Count the number of tablets per ward or deployment point. A 30-device cart for a 20-tablet ward gives you room to grow without over-specifying.
Adjustable ABS dividers: Hospital tablet fleets are rarely uniform. ABS dividers that adjust to accommodate 9.7" iPads, 10.2" iPad standard, 12.9" iPad Pro, and Android tablets of varying sizes in the same cart prevent the need for separate carts per device type.
Lockable front and rear access: Front doors for nursing and clinical staff to access devices quickly. Rear doors for IT staff to manage charging cables and the PDU. Dual-key systems keep these access points separate.
Ventilation: Tablets charging simultaneously in a closed cabinet generate heat. Passive ventilation slots are the minimum; active cooling fans are recommended for carts charging 20+ tablets.
Mobility: 6" castors with locking brakes allow the cart to be moved between wards and locked in position when stationary.
Cable management: Individual cable routing per slot keeps charging cables contained and prevents the tangled cable hazard common with improvised charging setups.
iPad-Specific Considerations
- iPad Pro 12.9": Larger than standard iPad slots. Confirm slot width before ordering — our team can advise on compatibility.
- Lightning vs USB-C: Older iPads use Lightning; iPad Pro and newer iPad Air use USB-C. AC adapter carts accommodate both via OEM chargers.
- Cases: If tablets are stored in protective cases, confirm slot depth accommodates the case thickness.
